If you have ever watched The documentary "Young Soldiers" the instrumental of "Another Night Out" is in it. It is very powerful.

These guys should cut down on the coffee so they can focus on something.

Possibly my fave album of the year. Follow me down and the Answer as best songs of the year. Great groove all the way through. I think Unkle can finally shed the Psyence Fiction schtick and hang their hat onto a new sound. Saw them in NYC a couple of months ago and this album together with War Stories frame a greatset. Not a bad track to be had!!! Keep it coming

As a huge fan of Never, Never, Land, Psyence Fiction and War Stories, I had big expectations for this album. Unfortunately, this album didn't meet them. None of the tracks stand out from the others, and as a result the whole album sounds like one really long repetitive song. I really think that the samples, lyrics and variety of tempo and style on the other albums are what made them so stellar, so hopefully there will be more of that in the future. All in all, the album is fine background music for reading, painting or taking a nap, but that's where it ends.
  • They Stand Apart

There are a few acts out there that defy any attempts at categorization, and one of those acts is definitely UNKLE. They've bounced around from Trip Hop to Rock to Techno to now what might be dubbed "Space Age Psychedelic". And even when they work close to a genre, they still stand apart. This album is what the 60's might have sounded like if the 60's happened in 2060 instead of 1960. Despite the multitude of electronic instruments this album involves, everything still feels raw, dirty, and organic. This is an album that's easily listenable as a whole, with a variety of tracks to fit any given mood. From chill to agitated, from optimistic to introspective. "Follow Me Down" is a song that would serve you well if you were offered a red pill or a blue pill, a song for making one comfortable with losing one's sanity. "The Answer" is a song to hear when driving through a hot summer night with the windows down and feeling optimistic.

Just feels ordinary and unremarkable. I respect the musicans right to take their music wherever they want but I just don't feel anykind of progression or path that would lead to this. It kind of lulls you to sleep with generic rock and lacks any resemblance to their or I should say his previous sound. Not as tragic as dj shadow's last full album but forgettable.

Totally large sound. This is a brilliant transtion for UNKLE. Righteous from the first listen. If this disc doesn't make you move, youre dead.

I always anticipated every new UNKLE album. "Science FIction" was classic! DJ Shadow and Thom Yorke ("Rabbit In Your Headlights" is mesmerizing) was just an amazing addition to that album. Then "Never, Never, Land" came out, which was pretty much an all around good album ("What You Are To Me" and "Glow" still remain some of my favorite songs). Then, War Stories came out...loved to new direction with the rock music (Especially, the weird and fascinating "Persons & Machinery"). But with every new album, I felt that something was missing. Even though all their music is very diverse and innovative, I felt that they were still looking for that one style of music that just could not be categorized! What works so well on this "Where Did The Night Fall" is that the vocals were consistently used properly in every song creating some beautiful vocal melodies and harmonies ("War Stories" I believed misused their talented guest vocalist on some songs). This album uses the perfect blend of electronics, rock, ambient sounds, dark layouts, and pitch perfect percussions(drums are phenomenal in this album). I haven't stopped listening to this album since I bought it! Definitely a "must buy" for true fans of UNKLE and for anyone who enjoys innovative music!

Damn, this would have been my favorite back in '73 when I had hair and a sexlife... Yet, somehow now I'm glad to hear UNKLE take on retrofuturism. I'm just old enough to have this make me feel young again. Translation: These dudes ROCK!!!
