I was engineering a live event once, and Mr. Harper came to the booth and mentioned the toms were drowning in the mix. Most people at the event could care less, but it bugged him to no end. Of course when I listened to his project, the main thing I was looking for was how tight the mix was. Mr. Harper's attention to detail on the sonic quality of each element leads to an album that is phenomenally clean all the way through. The excellent engineering of the album allows listeners to become fully immersed and connected to the music in a way that is far different from the experience of listening to anything else on the market. Mr. Harper, thank you for this project. Music lovers needed this one.

Very, very nice! Onesimus Returns, By 6pm, Sailing, Expressions... Mark Harper is soooo fluid with his touch on the fingerboard. A real keeper, this one. Can't wait for more from Mr. Harper!

The only thing wrong with this album is that it only has 13 songs. It leaves you begging for 13 more!!! I've seen Mark live and his talent shines through on this brilliant album. Great music for all occasions.

Do I have to say anything more? This album is phenominal. This is not my "normal" genre of music, but I'm hooked. I've heard "Sailing" plenty of times, but when I heard the MHP rendition I would have thought I had heard it for the first time.

Mark Harper Project is a good one. Althought this appears to be his first as a leader, you get a real sense of musical maturity from the start. If you like the music of Wayman Tisdale, this CD is for you. Both the smooth jazz covers here are top shelf. One Less bell is laced with some powerful vocal harmony and Sailing is very dreamy. My favorite track is the smooth and funky Normandy. Tony Blaine's vocals are very polished. This track is ready fro prime time. Overall, I say this CD is the start of a great journey for Mark Harper. It has all the right pieces and maybe justs need the right promo so the world can hear. I look forward to this one in my CD changer.

Now I don't know Mark Harper much, but if I did I would have to say that the music is a direct reflection of who the man is, a masterpiece of our creator. The whole album has had an attention to detail that surpasses all of his peers since George B walked down "Broadway". This type of music is not only for the INTELLIGENT ears, but for people who just like it done right. "In A Hurry" shows that Mr Harper and D-Mac still have that magic touch since their L.A Reid/Babyface Mac Band MEGA HIT, "Roses Are Red" back in 1988. It is Sooo good to feel that funky 80's feelin again! It is nice to have a complete work by an artist where every song is a special moment of/into itself and collectively supports the whole mood. SUPERIOR MASTERING!!! If you have a special person/moment/friend/occasion, this is what you should be listening to...
  • Worth the Wait

I became a fan of The Mark Harper Project by chance. After wanting to hear more of his music, I learned that the CD had been released and quickly included it in my music library. It is worth the wait. It is obvious that Mark and the producer(s) consider this a labor of love because I hear it in every song. Mark's talent is showcased brilliantly. The cut "Twenty III" is a great tune and he has taken the old school tune "Sailing" and put a new twist on it and By6PM is one of the best cuts. I am a lover of the guitar and Mark is one of my favorite guitar player. This CD is very enjoyable to me. I not only get guitar, I get guitar by one of my favorites, doing really good stuff. Hey win/win for me.

For someone to come along and give the song "Sailing" a new meaningful interpretation is awesome! That was and still is one of my all time favorite songs. This album is very colorful, tasteful and keeps the listener engaged. The song "Dedication" is a fitting tribute to the Late great Wayman Tisdale, whom I sorely miss and was a big fan of. I applaud Mr. Harper for crafting such a great album and looking forward to his next project.
