Reviews

  • Not the original recordings...

    By RainOfSteel
I am a fan of the original recordings of the material listed in this album. I checked the samples available for almost all of the material listed here, and not one was an original recording. The versions I sampled were all hollow-sounding, tin-backgrounded, and off-beat. (If there are any oriiginal recordings among the samples I did not check, my apologies, but I had to stop listening after a certain point.) If you like odd-sounding alternate recordings that carry no flavor or spirit of the originals, this may be for you. For those who are fans of original recordings, skip this.

    UNIQUE AMAZING MUSIC
  • How can you screw up the theme to Buckaroo Banzai??

It's already made with synths! This joker must have some sort of cheap casio and a four track recorder setup in his mother's basement. Did this guy even listen to the original music to Buckaroo Banzai?? The orchestration part is okay, but the electro part, wow - most of the instrumental parts from the original aren't followed. I wanted the original piece (or a close resemblance), but this is all iTunes had to offer. Avoid it. It's not even good in a bad cheesy disco type of way.
  • SG-1

I'm not sure about all of this album, but the SG-1 theme sounded good to me, even though it was $. 99 for 1:02 of music.
  • Don't Bother - It's BAD

I bought the first two volumes on CD along time ago off of a bargain rack and was severely disappointed. Most of the tracks are TERRIBLE adaptions on some electro synthetic thingy. Search farther and find the originals or at least a decent version from the Boston or Cincinnation Pops orchestras!!!!
  • Lame.

This dude probably still sleeps in his mom's basement. Or in her bed. At any rate, he made the Re-Animator theme like a They Might Be Giants children's song, and for that I will never forgive him.

Ok, maybe there's one or two that are passable, but these synthesizer-heavy re-renditionings of orchestral pieces isn't a good idea. If you're looking for real copies of these songs, keep looking for a collection that uses the original recordings, or at least a good orchestra that is an attempt to keep the original sound of the pieces.
  • Cheesy, Don't Buy

Man, I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing a track off of this CD...everything about it is a poor performance and like other reviews have said, it's corny and cheesy-sounding.
