I was just looking through the "Listeners also bought" list and I liked the cover of their album. I wasn't really expecting much, but when I clicked on the first song, I was completely amazed! Their songs have a really clean and smooth sound to them, I don't think I've heard anything like them. They, I believe, are my new favorite band. Their songs are astonishing and you can tell just how much they love our God.

Let me start by saying C3 has a freakin' awesome sound. I love the passion and energy, and their melodies are totally contageous. Musically, this is one of the best worship albums out there right now.
I find myself torn though...I, as a worship leader, want so desperately to lead these songs at church because I love the sound...but I don't think I can use this cd beyond personal worship at home or in the car. I have two reasons for this: the first is that some of the lyrics are theologically incorrect. One that stands out in my mind is the fact that they say: "I place your seal upon my heart." No we don't. God does! I know they're trying to say that they are totally God's, and that's awesome...but that's a dangerous way to word it because it could sound to someone in your congregation that we are capable of saving ourselves by using God. It just doesn't sit right with me.
Also, I feel as though some of the lyrics fall more in line with the modern-day gospel of "Jesus as the perfect accessory...a ticket to the best possible circumstances" A lot of the emphasis is on "me, I, me, I, mine, my..." and my "best life now" and "I'm choosing you" and "Your heart is mine..." I wish it was more "Jesus you are this, you are that, thank you Jesus for that. Because of that, my heart says this..." more emphasis on Jesus, and less on me. I am unreliable. God is not.
Don't get me wrong! I love personal reflection in worship songs, and I feel heartfelt response is necessary. I totally listen to this album in my car and sing it with all my heart, but I know God knows what I am saying. I am not judging the c3 church...I can tell they have great passion and a great heart, and i think their hearts are in the right place...it's just that I think that these lyrics could misrepresent what the Gospel is really about to a congregation that might not know what I'm saying when I am singing it. I just don't feel comfortable enough with the lyrics. Some of them are great, but some just don't sit right. Oh, but the sound! The sound is so good! Their voices are great! I love this album...if only I loved all the lyrics! :-/
