Black Out the Blue packs another punch full of soul and expressive emotion. In the follow up to her debut EP, Streetwise, Roxi Copland shows her growth with even stonger songwriting and greater musical complexity. Roxi's voice alone has the ability to pull you in and leave you wanting more; add in a fantastic band and her well-crafted music and lyrics, and the only downside is when the final song ends. Perhaps the best surprise is "Perfect for Me", a catchy and humourous song that you just can't get out of your head. The great thing is that you don't want it to--the song is so darn cute and has such a great storyline, it can do nothing other than make you smile (and laugh out loud). The song is a step outside the box for Roxi, but it shows she can be just as sultry with seemingly lighthearted fare. As enticing as Roxi is to listen to through a pair of headphones, she's downright mesmerizing right in front of you. If you ever get the chance to see her live, you can't miss it.
