Look guys don’t normally spend time reviewing but this shameful album compelled me too. I love Disco and this is not what they are capable of, not even close. I watched some videos o f them making the new album about a year ago and the DBs where in a studio next door to all these rap producers that where making club stuff all day. The video had them all collaborating and talking about how they were helping guide their sounds. So after all this time we got this commercial piece of crap, how embarrassing. If you can hear me Jon, Marc, Allen, and Aron please leave this stuff in the studio and dont bring it to the shows.

I am OBSESSED with this album! It proves the versatility of these amazing artists and is completely refreshing in its bold and successful risk taking. Each track has something new to offer and yet each one maintains a level of artistry that is worthy of admiration and awe. I thoroughly enjoy it and have been listening to it in its entirety non-stop since I bought it a few days ago. Thank you to everyone who worked on this album. You have contributed a masterpiece to the world of music.

been listening to the biscuits since 2000, been to countless shows, and I must say that at first listen this album is not what you expect from the biscuits, especially fish out of water and big wrecking ball, however, after a few times over it grows on you. lovin' sweatbox right now. can't wait to see what they do with these songs in a live setting. This album is far from what you can expect at a live show.
  • Im Torn...on what to think

Its been a while since the last album, And like the last one, I was torn on what to think, One Major difference for me with Senor Boombox...Not only was i at the Release @ Camp Bisco 3 But had hear many of the song for the first time live on the summer tour before the release, and was shocked when i heard the album because I hardly recognized some of the songs i had grown to Love. I feel that this album will be the same. (GRANTED I STILL MISS SAMMY ON THE DRUMS) I feel that Their Albums, like They Missed the Perfume, Senor Boom Box and Planet Anthem, all push the envelope of what is Possible in a studio, and possibly get carried away with ideas, Which allows the band the room to be truely experemental, both on album and Live! That is the true nature of the Disco Biscuits and their following, Be experamental, you only Live once so if you don't try it you will never know if it was a sucess or failure, wether it was Fun or a Bore. That being said, many of the true fans (if they even buy the albums) to say they have them, but more often listen to Live recordings of shows, which in themselves are like albums, Personally some of my favor recorded Biscuts stuff is from shows, and on that truely sticks out is the Primary Color for Peace Show (i beleive it was the 9:30 club) or August 16, 2002 - Rumsey Playfield, Central Park, or even September 27, 2003 - The Silo - Reading, PA When Magner and Sammy demoed the Moshi Moshi sound for us all, the band debut 3 new songs which aside from the transfusion 4 are yet to make an album...and to top it off they Broke out the SAFTEY DANCE....like i said earlier, this band is all about taking risks, and their albums are almost as if they are being a trance/techno coverband of their own music! (which is something that they have done before live been a cover band of themeselves) i think it is quite interesting, but also exposes many who would have never heard of them to their music. That being said the album is OK..But will grow on me, and i can already see songs emerging that are true winners and others that probably will never see a live performance

The shows and effects will be sick. You'll see. This has composition and fidelity. Not their best though.
  • Planet Anthem and Sigourney Weaver: A Comparative Analysis

Planet Anthem and Sigourney Weaver: A Comparative Analysis by Buttercup What does one look for in a new album? Is it ambition or excitement? Perhaps intelligence or provocation? Maybe even structure or a sense of humor? Maybe you just want to admire the beautiful cover art and liner notes as you run your hands through its massive thick of dark curls, tracing over the curves of an impossibly perfect shaped skull. Maybe you listen to and process music differently than I, but I find that I look for many of the same qualities in music as I do in women. And if you’re like me, then when you listen to music, you probably think about women too. Music, in general, has an amazing ability to invoke vast arrays of emotions and images and when I listen to the Disco Biscuits recently released 5th studio album, Planet Anthem, as I have for the past week now, the irrepressible imagery conjured up in my mind’s eye is that of the confoundedly sexy Sigourney Weaver. When I hear the angelic, gritty femininity of “Rain Song” I see Ellen Ripley stealthily charging down a murky corridor armed to the teeth and breathing heavily, her tattered clothing clinging to her with sweat. The spooky, undulating, sexy 80’s vibe of “Über Glue” calls forth the sultry Dana Barett in her sparkly red Zuul dress and stark glam-rock makeup, seductively convulsing, floating in the air above her bed. In the earnest, poppy whimsy of “The City” I see Dr. Augustine’s giant blue Na’vi avatar bounding through the forests of Pandora, surrounded by brilliantly colored blossoming alien flora. I’m drawn to this album for many of the same reasons I’m drawn to the so-called queen of sci-fi, which is an appeal I can only describe as stemming from a kind of beauty that’s rarely seen nowadays. They both employ a bold yet seemingly natural allure, or a retro-glamour that is a departure from conventional mainstays of aesthetics. Ironically, it's the utilization of this uniquely unconventional, classical magnetism that sets Planet Anthem and Sigourney Weaver apart and even ahead of the rest. Planet Anthem is certainly a departure from the Biscuits usual style as well as their previous catalogue, which is a daring and adventurous move on their part. They delve into uncharted territory as they experiment with new genres and sounds and the end result is arguably one of great success. Bands that do not take chances do not evolve; And while the reviews are all across the board, this rare demonstration of courage made for something strikingly special.

I was hoping for something great. And then upon listening i was hoping for mediocre. Now I realize the entire album save 1 track is terrible. What a waste. What is up with all the autotune, disco biscuits stop listening to so much Kanye West
