  • Remixes that respect the beauty of a melody!

My biggest gripe about most remixes anymore is that the remixer forgets about the fact that some tracks are actual songs. Granted, there is a lot of atonal stuff out there that doesn't really suffer from a remixer's tinkering. After all, how much can you ruin a track that only employs three notes, an autotuner and a bunch of phasing effects in the first place? I was a bit concerned about the remixes for this absolutely beautiful song. Matt Alber's painfully honest delivery and gorgeous melody made this one of the highlights of not just this album, but of last year. I found it interesting that the label held back on releasing this set of mixes until almost a year after its initial release. I'm glad that they did. I digress-- upon seeing Morgan Page's name attached to the first two tracks, I pretty much knew that this song was in safe and capable hands. Morgan has been able to craft some wonderful, sunny dance-pop versions of songs without destroying the original intent of the artist's work. As remixes were originally intended to do, these enhance the original track. I was equally pleased with the Saul Ruiz versions. I was not previously familiar with Saul's work, but will certainly approach his work with a favourable attitude in the future.
  • How can you not love this combination of talent and soul!?

It's always great to take a wonderful song and turn it just enough to bring it to a new forum with new potential audiences. This is the case here, An upbeat, very moveable re-visioning of a emotionally moving original. Matt is currently booking and playing small intimate venues for live performances and if you get a chance to see him in person, grab it. I intend to see him in South Florida in Feb!

This EP fulfilled my wish for Matt to sing something more uptempo. I love his voice and work, but have longed for something to tap my feet to. This is it!

These remixes turn the lasers on and get the disco ball spinning for an already great heartfelt song. Thanks for keeping it real Matt.

I love the original. That being said, these remixes are fantastic. There is something about an energetic beat and up tempo to make the longing and heartfelt emotion all the more powerful. I have all four and think they are great. I can't wait for more from Matt.

I heard the remix of this at Jackhammer in Chicago, which is also where I heard Matt perform and met him after. I love the remixes, bought all of them. It's a great way to keep the song in your head, but not wear out the original (plus I love to a good beat!!). I would love to see Matt do some more dance songs. (without losing the quality of his voice, of course).

Almost didn't give this a shot as I am so in love with the original version which I think is a classic. I did buy both the Morgan & ruiz extended versions which I quite like alot. Plus there is the fact that you just can't deny that sweet, true voice. Matt is a star.
