Reviews

  • Classic Band, Great Songs

DEVO was, and I think still are, quite a phenomenon. They had a fairly amazing image, songs that sound fresh even today, and in retrospect a lot of songs that were "Social Commentary".The big thing was that along with the cool sound at that time, they irritated parents like crazy, as well as some Church "leaders". If WHIP IT can sound good, annoy parents( as it did) then its hardly subpar. They talked, in one interview, about being "enzymes in the corporate oil slick", and put on power hats ( or was it cones?).So, as for DEVOlution as they called it, they anticipated a lot of elements that became popular later. I know what you do, cos they do it too :-)

Uncontrollable Urge is probably my favorite song on this album only because it's played on Ridiculousness on MTV, but the only flaw is that it sounds like he's speaking gibberish...

This has to be one of, if not the best, debuts from the new wave era. Not a filler cu to be had and with the new remastering, it's sounds great as well

One of most influential albums of all time is back with goodies!! Only DEVO is smart enough to cover Rolling Stone's Satisfaction. It's Scary, It's Weird, It's Unique, It's DEVO!!

This album is probably Devo's best. For a long time 'Oh No' was my favorite, but now I'm thinking their best is either this album, or Duty Now For The Future. Devo is definitely one of the greatest bands of all time, and I personally think they are the best not only for their music but also for their humor & videos, etc.
  • Definetly one of the best

Devo is a criminally underrated band. Today they are remembered for one Subpar synth song (whip it). This is one of the greatest albums of all time. a must get.

Devo was cutting edge in 1978 and beyond and no one compares to their unique sound, style and and sense of humor
