One of my favorite albums of all times. Love Alive Albums set the standard for church choirs everywhere by consistently providing quality music with classic lyrics like, "Don't wait Til the battle is over, shout now!"

My Mother had ALL of the Love Alive albums. I remember when she brought this one home from the record store. "When The Battle Is Over" was a hot number on the Gospel radio stations. "I Love You Lord" was another one that you heard on the radio often. I honestly enjoy this album more and more and yet pull my chording patterns from the arrangements. Every song has such a rich sound to it. You have to respect the music of the early 80's because the choir you hear is what was recorded LIVE. They had less technology then so you had to be a perfectionist as Walter Hawkins was. I was really really little when Love Alive 2 came out. I wasn't even born when Love Alive hit the record store but what's funny is, no matter what was fresh from Walter Hawkins you couldn't help singing the songs from previous albums as well as the new ones. Music has sooooo changed. It's all about it hit, beat and a run. I'm sure entertainment had its bite in the 80's but I respect Walter Hawkins for being true to the message being louder than "a jam". That's why we could sing them yesterday and still today and that anointing picks you up every time.

This is by far one of my favorite albums, I grew up listening to this and would stand in front of the mirror pretending to direct the choir. My favorite track is, Is There Any Way, led by Brenda Roy! This is a must have!
