possibly the best soundtrack album ever… what a collection of songs. Some of them among the most moving I know. The film is amazing as well. If I could take only 10 albums to my desert island, this would be top of the list
  • Fantastic collection of songs!

I remember buying this album on the recommendation of a local DJ 20 years ago. I'm glad I did! Honestly, there's a few duds in the mix, but also some pure gems that were impossible to find anywhere else in the early 90's. My personal faves are the Talking Heads, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, T. Bone Burnett, and Nick Cave. This album was just one Warren Zevon track away from being the quintessential alternative sampler in the time before "alternative" was even considered a genre. Give it a try, you almost certainly won't like a few tracks, but you'll find 2 or 3 (or more) that deserve inclusion in the soundtrack of your life.

This is quite possibly the best soundtrack album ever. Not only does the music capture the mood of the film, but it stands on its own as a perfectly blended eclectic collection tied together with the multitude of instruments from Graeme Revell's interstitial songs. I've recommended this to people who haven't even seen the film and they have loved it.
  • The music and the movie are classics.

Listen to the soundtrack and then go rent or buy the movie. The music stands alone but when you watch the movie the music is very much an aural prop for the emotions and feelings being expressed. I found myself listening to the music and had to rewind the movie to focus on the plot again. The one track that is missing Peter Gabriel's "In The Blood Eden". It's too bad because it would fit and it is also one of the longer tracks played in the movie. Other tracks are only available on the soundtrack (Summer Kisses, Death's Door, It Takes Time). Kudos to a good friend that recommended this movie to me years ago.
  • This soundtrack influenced my taste in music.

I bought this soundtrack on CASSETTE in 1991. It came out at a very influential time in my life and this album for sure had a lot to do with my future music choices. I listen to this now as much as I did when it came out 19 years ago ( yikes!)

soundtrack, ever. pretty much every song is great, the standouts being talking heads, elvis costello and jane siberry ('calling all angels' is one of the all time greats). and the instrumentals by graeme revell are insanely beautiful. i can't recommend this soundtrack enough. though i always wish the alt. version of peter gabriel's 'blood of eden' could have been included (it is available on the uk single, though).
  • One of the best!

I was a mere lad when I first heard of this movie and was seduced by its soundtrack. It's still one of the best in my vast collection.
