Reviews

  • One of the All Time Greatest

    By The Cult - Electric
The songs on this album are some of the hardest rocking rock songs of the 80's! Highlighted by one of the Greatest of all time "She Sells Sanctuary". Also on this album is the masterwork "Love", one of Rolling Stone Magazines most layerd and rock driving songs of the 80's. You wont regret buying this album, which will lead you into their next album "Electric", which quite possibly can be argued as one of the greates rock albums of ALL TIME. The Cult get better and better every year, and if you have their 2012 release "Choice of Weapon" you will know what I am talking about.

surely if you are reading this, you already have 'love'. if not, you must own it. or maybe you are just looking at getting the new version. either way, this should be purchased. 'she sells sanctuary' is one of the best songs ever. and the bonus songs are good. the cult always have good remixes or extended versions of songs. these songs can be found elsewhere, but if you do not know 'little face', you should get it. it rocks. it was originally on the b-side of the 12" of 'she sells sanctuary'.
  • This is the essence of The Cult

Until grabbing this edition, I hadn't heard Love in probably 15 years, save for a couple of the singles. This is a revelation. I was not prepared. A simply magnificent re-master of the seminal Cult album. Everything sounds so good. From the kick off track, Nirvana, that thunders like never before, Love grabs you by the back of the neck and rocks you all over the theatre until the last track is done. The younger Ian's vocals shine through your headphones, Billy's guitar envelopes you with its brilliance and signature sound. Rain, Revolution and She Sells Sanctuary sizzle. The Cult are one of my favorite bands, and this is their best total work. They've done better individual songs later, and especially the last two albums have been very underrated, but nothing has approached the raw energy and potential of Love.

This is one of the greatest rock CD's of the 80's. This "Expanded" Version has some rare tracks for the deep Cult fan. Check out "Judith", "Sunrise", and "Little Face". Somhow these tracks didn't make it to the original CD. 5 Star Fo Sure!!!
