    As he's gotten older Greg Brown has gotten deeper and bluesier. His recent albums are great in their way. But it's nice to listen to these old songs where you don't have to strain to figure out what the words are. This is one of his more sentimental albums, celebrating love, fatherhood, and small towns. Mississipi Moon and Walking Down to Casey's are amazingly evocative portraits of childhood. On a more recent album he talks about the fact that his songs aren't necessarily autobiographical. If these two aren't, it demonstrates that he's an amazing listener (eavesdropper maybe).
