Solid Air has built a solid reputation by getting outstanding acoustic guitarists to collaborate on "tribute" CD's. Much like the Grammy-winning "Pink Guitar" (Henry Mancini) and "Delovely Guitar" (Cole Porter), this collection showcases each guitarist's unique style and arrangements with familiar tunes. You get to experiene Tommy's technical virtuosity, Juber's dynamic counterpoint, Petteway's Celtic influences, Smith's gorgeous tone, Hanson's straightforward yet interesting approach, Donohue's Atkins-style, and Dowling's blues all in one sitting. That you probably know most/all of these songs makes it an accessible collection that is great listening music, but it provides plenty of inspiration for guitarists as well. Highly recommended.

As a lover of the beloved songs from my childhood, I couldn't wait to listen to this innovative and highly anticipated album after hearing quite a lot of buzz about it in the last month. These songs written by the incredible Sherman Brothers (whose names might not ring familiar at first but the song titles definitely will) and performed by the world's foremost acoustic guitarists will have your Inner Child (and guitar fan) tickled by this purchase. It is a trip down Memory Lane....to a place that always makes me feel safe, loved, and entertained from my heart. These tunes are in our generation's collective DNA and when you hear them presented in this unique genre, you will be pleasantly surprised. My eyes welled up upon the first chords of "Feed the Birds" by Doug Smith, and "Winnie the Pooh" by Tommy Emmanuel felt like a favorite sweatshirt, right out of the dryer. And of course, the great Laurence Juber makes "A Spoonful of Sugar" sound like he's playing with 20 fingers. These songs are all so wonderful and invoke such GOOD feelings that I'm already planning on "Poppin' Guitars" being my number one gift for the holidays. Our world needs to feel this good.....and the Sherman Brothers never disappoint.....and neither do these incredible musicians who have obviously put their hearts and souls into being part of this album. A MUST BUY...and a breath of very fresh air.
