  • Not the Best Mix

The organ is majestic and played beautifully. The choir is amazing and so perfect in their singing. It is unfortunate that the mix engineer did not display the same level of mastery. In too many cases, the mix engineer allowed the organ to overpower the choir resulting in a poorly-balanced end product. Even so, there is a lot to be enjoyed in such virtuoso performances.

The National Lutheran Choir is not just for Lutherans. This selection contains Hymns in a variety of styles and with interesting arrangements. The music is well executed by the Choir and above all, it is not dull. The recording features a good Organ with someone who knows how to play it well. The Instrumental parts are sharp and clear. At times the diction of the Choir appears a bit muddy, but this may be more due to unfortunate balance in the sound recording and not a deficiency in the Choir. This minor flaw did not detract from a splendid performance. I can freely recommend this recording. I note that there is a volume number two which I plan to purchase.
  • Content is Great, recording mix quality not so much

I really enjoy the selection of tunes on this album, but the voice of the singers are barely audible. So the music is great and while it is almost an instrumental you hear voices of the singers but can rarely understand them as they are too quiet.

if you like tradional church music along with a blues style Gospel rendition of "Precious Lord" you will love this album. I have this album and am going to get the other 2 that iTunes offers. I am a great fan of choral music, both accapella and accompanied. I have never heard "Jesus Loves Me" sung that slowly or that beautifully before, the blending of the voices of the choir is not only suburb it borders the sublime. I cannot recomend this album enough. I have been a fan of the National Lutheran Choir for many years, they never fail to amaze me with their singing. Bravo.
