i met this guy on a church mission trip. he played some cool stuff and even let me play his guitar one night 4 worship. he sent me some of his CD's later. This one is definitely the best. The blue oyster cult cover is pretty sick. surround you is the best original one. Buy this Cd...it is good if you like contemporary alternative stuff.

I actually acquired a copy of the actual double CD release. Chapman's originals are on the disk titled "Rumors of My Death", whereas the covers are tracked to a disk marked "Dead Ringers" (which I found to be clever). I also appreciated the fact that the covers weren't simply note for note remakes, and instead were approached with some open creativity (loved "the Reaper"). Ah, but the true gems are his original tunes. Songs like Learn To Fly and Last Call are solid pop offerings. If you're sick of the manufactured radio pablum, this album might be the dose you need.

Hate to be negative, but the Smiths cover made me cringe.

This is the album that introduced me to this singer-songwriter from Mount Airy, NC. "Rumors of My Death" not only includes several outstanding original songs, but also provides you with a menagerie of cover songs from every reach of rockdom. The album starts with the memorizing “Surround You” followed by my favorite “Learn to Fly.” It continues on with a great assortment of rock songs that you will continually want to play. The second CD (appropriately titled “Dead Ringers”) will provide you with exceptional versions of songs from The Beatles, Blue Oyster Cult, Styx, The Smiths as well as others. Once you download one, you will want to download them all!
