  • Fantastic Early

I'm a new fan of early Dead. This is fantastic. Easy to get lost in this, wild fun energy, with Pigpen who was their best singer, he hits all the notes. All in all, it's less polished than the later work but not in a bad way. You can feel the raw talent, and the acorn that will become the tree and in being raw, it's more tripy. I'm loving it.

If you like LIVE DEAD, this makes a great companion. My favorite Mountains and great energy throughout. If you like late 60's dead, you can't go wrong with this Pick.

I love GD shows from Pigpen's Tenure With Band. Lots of blues , and soul when he was singing and playing Although alot of dead heads love the 72-77-81 eras. I have to say that some of my favorite shows are from 1969-1972. If you are just getting into the dead and want a pigpen show that rip roars check out this show for starters I highly reccommend 3 from the vault as well. Best tracks on this set are; Lovelight, I Know It's A Sin, Dark Star, and The Other One Jam Check out Europe 72, and my favorite Steppin Out '72 Long Live Pigpen
