Tool of the Man

Is that the reason this album is so great is the aquisition of drummer Johnny 'The Machine' Herndon. (See Tortoise and Isotope 217) His machine nickname is cause no matter how energetic and crazy the song gets, his meter never walks - he's like Baby Snakes era Bozio of the college rock crowd. I saw these guys in Kalamazoo MI in the early '90's, right after John had joined. He had chains from his throne to the sides of the bass drum to keep it there and still nearly kicked that thing off the stage. Absolutley electric live and the album is only a taste of how tight and on this band was. It was a college soundtrack for many in this period, lost to many ears but not forgotten.
