I first listened to this album in early 1999 and it hit me like a ton of bricks. The attention to detail in every moment of this record is apparent. The guitars, the samples, the chanting, and the vocals all combine to form a streamlined vision of audio perfection that borders on a spiritual experience. The closing song on this album, You, is absolutely by far the most beautiful song I have ever heard. It has been my favorite song since the first time I heard it and it will be until my dying day. I got to meet Jon Crosby after a Vast show back in 2001 and I asked him what the song was about. He told me it was about how the only thing you can take with you when you die is love. I truly believe that and when I lost a dear friend a few years later, I was reminded of this belief. Thank you, Jon Crosby, for crafting my all time favorite record.

When you were new, you were dark, beautiful, and passionate. Over the years I had lost you at some point, never heard from you again. You were forgotten... The other day a friend responded to our heartfelt conversation with "I'm touched". Simple, humble, and sincere words; words that reminded me of you. This is how I found you again. After all these years, this album still wraps me up like a warm blanket. A hug from a long lost friend.

I first heard VAST on an afternoon NPR segment back in the 90's. I rushed to get the album and fell in love at first listen. After som many years later, I stumble upon it in I tunes by accidental mistype. What a providence to hear this forgotten love! The music is timeless and hauntingly beautiful, even almost 20 years later. I will be exploring the newer works for sure, working from this album forward in time to current. This is a MUST have for any music conessuer (sp?) Enjoy

This is one of my all time favorite albums to listen to! Every single song is just wonderful. I love every song on this album and that very rarely happens for me. Just a rare gem! I purchased this album after falling in love with the song "Touched", which is still my #1 fave. The combination of instruments and sounds set a dramatic, haunting and an almost otherworldly atmosphere. Sprinkled with samples of Gregorian Chants as well as the extraordinary and enchanting female choir Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares (check them out, they are some of the most beautiful female voices you will ever hear) gives the songs almost an ethereal atmosphere to blend with some of the heavier, more dramatic instruments! A genius and amazing blend of sounds that you can't help but love. Give this album a listen to, I recommend it completely.
  • I don't like it.

I think the artist would be better if they stopped making songs that sound majestic but have explicit lyrics. That annoys me.

I absolutely loved the whole album! I'm Dying, was my personal favorite on the album, but that is mostly because it is helping me get through some tough times. Over all the album flows beautifully, my favorite album to listen to!

I absolutely love VAST. It inspires me everyday. Jon Crosby is creative in every sense of the word. This album and band is by far my favorite. I haven't heard anything like it and I doubt I ever will. A big thanks to Megan for opening the doors to music heaven.
