If I had $10 to my name and was headed to a deserted island, The Way Out West would be going with me! I've been listening to this guy for years and have just been waiting for him to hook up with a group of musicians that could capture the depth of his creativity and brilliance. This is that album and it's way beyond my wildest expectations. Every one of these songs is a unique gem and collectively they comprise the rarity that turns obscure artists into household names.

I've been listening to Michael's songs for more than 20 years, I hae never found another artist whose music has more consistently touched my heart and soul. His latest release is no exception. "The Way Out West" contains 10 songs with beautiful melodies and lyrics which tell stories about Michael's thoughts and experiences which I believe, most will find, are all our thoughts and experiences. His songs have a way of reminding us of our connection to others and the planet we all share. I highly recommend this CD to all, but especially if you arein a time and place in which you are feeling a sence of disconnecton to others and your life. These songs will surely help in the process of reconnecting you to a more meaningful and joyful life experince.

WOW!! This one word describes Michael’s new release. There is something for everyone here with styles ranging from the first song's Rock, through Country, and on into his great Ballad’s territory with the closing song. The musicianship is outstanding with help from the award-winning group “Acoustic Alchemy.”
Of course, it’s Michael’s lyrical-writing ability, his way of describing scenes and emotions that allow him to stand with some of the great contemporary songwriters of our day…Chapin, Henley/Frey, and of course Dan Fogelberg. His songs of inspiration and the Human Spirit are most welcome in these trying times.
Included in my favorites would be “Seattle Skies” where Michael describes a scene so clearly that you’d swear that you are the one feeling an overcast day in Seattle with the rain drops trickling down your cheeks.
In “One Way Through” he writes about something we can all relate to….making an absent-minded wrong turn down a one-way street. All of a sudden the world is honking and yelling at you! What to do?? Take a cleansing breath, think of cold mountain streams, and get back on track. Of course, is this a real-life situation or a metaphor for dealing with everyday stresses??? You’ll have to decide, but it’s one of many thought provoking songs that could be interpreted many different ways….a Michael Tomlinson trademark.
The closer is “One Breath.” This song so beautifully sums up both the CD and life in general. If we could all just live by this song alone!!!
Get this CD, you won’t be disappointed!

It's wonderful having Michael back after a hiatus of years. He has brought so much listening pleasure to so many . . . he embodies a rich synthesis of heart, soul and sensitive intelligence -- coupled with a beautiful voice, lyrics and music. Welcome back Michael and best wishes with your new creation!
