I had only heard the track "My Ex-Lover Dead" while watching the past season of "So You Think You Could Dance" in which it was danced to by two awesome dancer's of the program Ellenore Scott and Ryan Di Lello to which I fell in love with the song. I started listening to other tracks and I am a FAN! This is a solid sounding group.
  • Promising...VERY promising

Stars are one of those bands that has comfortably sits with a niche audience. "Set Yourself On Fire" had critical acclaim, but they haven't reached the success of many of their contemporaries. In a way, it would seem that success plateaued with "Set Yourself on Fire" and anything that came afterward wasn't met with as much enthusiasm, despite their last album being nothing short of excellent. So to the naysayers out their, check out "Sad Robots." "In Our Bedroom After the War" was heavy drama, ala Morrisey without ever becoming that over the top. Stars is an emotional band, yet somehow grounded, which I've always loved. There are two tracks on here that show a lot of promise to where the band is headed, shying away from the smooth orchestrations creating a rough, desperate sound, piling the emotion on thick, as is heard in the wonderful track "A Thread Cut With A Carving Knife." To show they're not afraid to experiment and restructure their sound, they take one of their earlier tracks, "Going, Going, Gone" and totally rework it, with a much more fluid production and a conversion into a duet - a formula which only grows from album to album. I think this EP is a tease of what is to come and I now have my hopes high. If you don't get any other song on the album, definitely go for track 2. This is what Stars is all about.

This EP is really gorgeous, and every song is really relaxing and awesome. :) I love the singer's voices very much, and my favorite song on this would have to be A Thread Cut With a Carving Knife (but every other song is really great, too). I listened to only this EP for about five days and did not get sick of it! You should really give this a try because Stars is a great band and these six songs are excellent!

6 good tracks for $4. You can't go wrong. You can hear the slight shift in Stars style, but it is still great. If you are a Stars fan or just like the one song you heard get this. Just make sure to listen to it a couple times before you judge it.

This album just flows effortlessly and smoothly; leaving you wanting more Stars. While tracks 1 and 6 are more intro/outro, the other four are in my opinion classic songs that I can listen to again and again. This band should be supported. They have got to be by far the most unpretentious, down-to-earth, and talented indie band out there. I hope that they get any and all success that they want, as they truly deserve it. Get this album!

It's a pretty good EP and when they toured for it, they said it was only being sold through concerts and their web site. So you should buy it, being given the chance to do so.

I have to give this 4 stars rather than 5 because of the semi-entertaining 1st and 6th track on on the album. The rest is rad though! I can't get enough of "A Thread Cut With a Carving Knife" and "14 Forever." If you're cool you'll buy this album. So buy it and don't be gay.
