- "Save A Place For Me"??

Incredible album, Tracy writing to her muse. Only problem is why the song "Save A Place For Me" has been omitted from nearly every available copy of this album you can buy nowadays. Small song, short 'un, but typical Tracy heart, depth and punch. It was a "hidden song," we called such things in those days - a hidden track, snuck in like an easter egg, in coder lore, a quiet gift to fans and people who pay attention to the music being made, front and hotly center - not as scenery or background to life.

I have liked blues from a young age. I remember listening to a radio in the sixties. I didn’t fit with stoners and grunge etc from the 70s-90s. Coming of age during Nixon, Ford and Carter, I found that Country Western was more suited to my voice and personality. As an adult of many decades, I fell in love with smooth jazz. Now I’m back to blues, if it includes vocals. Miss Chapmen’s voice, like a great sax solo, reaches something in my soul.
- Such a moving album

It too the movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood with Tom Hanks to remind me of the song Promise. I’m so glad to have rediscovered this album. Tracy Chapman has a most unique voice and style for the time this album was made. I love it all!

I had this album back in the 80's and found it again. The music and the lyrics just touches me. Can't seem to get enough of her music and having a hard time turning off my device! I love her voice and musical styles.

From this album, it should be "Give Me One Reason". As I understood it, Chapman wasn't sure how this song would be received, was considering not recording it. Until one fateful performance of it on Saturday Night Live, after which she received a standing ovation. It was an instant hit. Chapman has a way of recording songs which become unforgettable, part of one's musical lexicon. Fantastic.
- A hidden gem!

I fell in love with this album the first time I ever heard. It is spiritually profound. I cannot imagine anyone not liking it.
Her hit song on the album is actually my least favorite. So give this album a chance! I think you will really like the rest of the songs even more, if you liked that one.

I remember hearing this song in a grocery store back in 1995 and wanted to buy it instantly. Had no idea who the singer was. Since then I have bought all of Tracy's songs. Her music is truly one of a kind and so is her voice. One of the few singer who, I believe, can sing a phone book and make it their own. So much passion in that voice of hers. Melody is complex yet so soothing. Have heard this album about a million times and its still fresh and relevant. Brett Dennen of the newer lot, sort of reminds me of her. But we so need her back on the music scene.
