- It's a shame

Really, this album could've been recognized a lot more in the past year or so if it was made clear somewhere that the "Swingin Party"on Pure Heroine is a cover of The Replacements.
- If I could only have one, it would be this one

This album is what alternative music was all about. It is not always easy on the ears or even understandable, but it grows on you with each listen until you feel like you can't live without it. This is a great mix of songs and textures, but mostly it rocks. "Left of the Dial" is a song for the ages, to be put in a time capsule to explain what it was like to be a music fan in the 1980s. For a band that's main public posture was standoffish, when they let their emotions show and revealed more about themselves in their songs, we were all rewarded. This is a classic group of songs, as critical to the 80s as the Who were to the 60s.
- This album taught me what music should be

I was fortunate enough to be in 8th grade in MN when this came out. 30 years later this is still one of my favorites. One of the few albums where every song is a winner.

The Replacements are on of the most important bands in American music. They are an extremely influential group, and they have the raw power, and attitude that is essential in rock n roll. This is my favorite Replacements album, Paul Weterberg and company capture the angst and frustration of punk, with the giant riffs and solos of stadium rock, without sacrificing integrity and creativity. The album opens wiith "Hold My Life", which smokes as Westerberg's voice cracks and wails. "Kiss me on the bus", is a great teenage love song. "Waitress in the sky", which is a song about hating a flight attendant, has a great country, rockabilly vibe. My favorite track on here has to be "Left of the Dial", a great rock song about searching for great music left of the dial, which is easily where the Replacments were. By the time "Here comes a regular" comes on you will need to catch your breathe, but the album slows to a crawl, on this Tom Waits like bar fly lament. This is an essential album for any rock fan!
- Good album

There are very few albums from the 90s and the 00s that can touch this Replacements album from 1985. Paul Westerberg's brilliant. Not a bad song on the album. And hey, why not buy the expanded version? "Nowhere is Near My Home" is a nice bonus!
- Great but where is "Pleased to Meet Me?"

Tim along with Pleased to Meet Me are two of my favorite Replacements records. Anyone know why iTunes doesn't have the latter? Long live Westerberg!

A lot gets said about how the replacements are the only band that ever mattered, and how they changed so many people's lives. I was skeptical at first. I liked them, but they weren't my favorite band or anything. However, the first time I heard this album I knew it was something really special. It's not as well loved as some other 'mats records, but it is easily my favorite. This record changed my life, and it might change yours too. Do yourself a favor and buy it. There is the singing along, fist pumping, drinking with good friends, car-window down, bad day, good day, breakup, wedding, anytime album that i love dearly.
