Reviews

  • Wonderous and moving

This is the best soundtrack I have ever purchased! After having owned it 5 years it still sweeps me away to the old farmhouse porch on Ladder ranch, across the rugged west on horseback, and through the pale echoing Blanco Canyon! It is a gem sure enough!
  • 2008 release it appears a good re-master

this appears to be the re-master of the original mono recording from the film, previously available on the "black market" or old vinyl discs. my first itunes purchase, thought I was going to get the CD, would have preferred that, presuming the compressed apple files are less than the original master transfer. who knows? but enjoyable nonetheless for fans of the Mozarts of Hollywood, of which Jerome Moross was one. it is a good recording with best LA musicians in town at the time. flawless performance and conducted by Moross [who studied under Copeland in his student days].

I've been known to declare an album a "must have" or "the definitive performance". If you know this movie, then owning the soundtrack is a no-brainer. If you don't know this movie, then rent it and buy this soundtrack, which is still a no-brainer. If you really have no brain, then why are you reading this?
