  • Glass' more playful side

As usual, one can expect the pulsing eighth notes that are so characteristic of Glass' compositions. But that should not detour anyone from this album. This is a delightful soundtrack to listen to. Although not overly intricate, the melodies are simple. There again, sometimes the simplest things are the most beautiful, and when referring to this soundtrack it rings true. Something that Glass critics will notice about this score is that the transitions from one movement to the next run smooth (something that cannot be said for all Glass’ works.) I also think it is important to point out that this soundtrack departs from other Glass scores in that the music is not overly austere. Rather the dissonance that was omnipresent in the soundtracks of Dracula, Kundun, North Star, and Truman Show have largely been displaced by more benevolent and sanguine melodies. For anyone who has doubted Glass' more playful side, take note.

I haven't heard this side of Glass for a while. The soundtract contains Philips themed melody structures with new and surprising turns. My heart melts with each note. If you like Mishima, Hours, and The Truman Show then buy this ablum.

Beautiful music for a beautiful movie. Can't believe how stunned I am at the quality and depth of this music.

I had first watched the movie Neverwas and absolutely fell in love with the music. It is just so pretty and I love to listen to it. I have found it very claming.
