I'm sorry, but those who say that this is not on par with Dream Cafe are waaaaay off! Dream Cafe is cheesy compared to this album. This is one of the greatest contemporary folk albums of all time...this is existential bliss...edgy, honest and bluesy...a patchwork of goodness...catchy but not in an offputting way...a great album, no doubt...a great album....a great album...a great album from start to finish. Honest and reflective..shine on Greg Brown....Shine ON!

That makes you a fan of Greg Brown's music....I think it's his first (or at least one of) album... I believe, simply his best! Enjoy!

I first heard Greg Brown on a car radio driving through the back roads of southern new hampshire. That was 20 years ago. Now I live in the Bay Area and have found myself digging lots of great things from Jack Johnson and interesting world music tunes. Recently, on a search for new music I stumbled back on Greg Brown and this particular ablum has just become a staple in our home. It carys so many wonderful tunes, sounds, voices, and moods. This album is truly great and I highly recommend to anyone who likes acoustic rock/folk.

I'm a Downtempo Techno guy who stumbled upon this album. It is a revelation!!! I have since downloaded his "Slant 6 Mind " and "Covenant" and have become a fan. This album is a lost and forgotten treasure which I guarantee will make you a fan. "Just a Bum" and "People With the Bad Luck" is as perfect as poetic folk can get!
