great reviews across the board are typically when I stay away (not always) and this is one of those times when a band has really developed a sound and feel that works well. Its got enough format that can appeal to the mass, yet retains an indie quality giving them permission to mix it up to make it unique and cool. The public will probably like "Buildings and Mountains" the most, but the songs that really stand out as well-crafted pieces of art are "Golden Sand", "Cast On, Cast Off" and "Feeling the Future". The flow of this album is very nice. As they express themselves in different ways, I believe they've found a terrific balance and will expect Republic Tigers to start some big waves! Fantastic band!

When you listen to this album turn it up loud an relax, you're going on a journey. Every song is different although Fight Song and Buildings and Mountains are my favorite two.

Sound changes remind me of Radiohead and voice combinations remind me of Peter Bjorn and John.

Ok, so you've got tons of artists out there who (to put it bluntly) stink. You see lyrics that mean nothing, and voices that aren't original, and then you've got your amazing bands that remain behind the wall that the top 10 puts up. I just don't understand. Would someone please like to explain to me why these artists aren't in the top ten, rather than GaGa and Ke$ha (by the way, the dollar sign is quite a cheesy touch, wouldn't you agree?). I just think these artists need to be discovered. Well, in any case, The Republic Tigers are an amazing band, with amazing music. Geniuses like this are rare. Buy the album--the whole thing, because it's worth it :)

My play count for the song, "The Nerve", is 63 times. I love to drive and think during that one, so I've repeated it so many times. Something about the feel of that one is beautiful, hopeful, and spiritual, and it has helped me through some dark days. I LOVE THIS ALBUM! My favorite tracks: 6. The Nerve, 1. Buildings, 9. Give Arm, 11. Strangers to the Eyes, 12. Cast On Cast Off.

These guys are great. Their music is amazing....the lyrics are deep and yet simple, as are their unique musical melodies. the layering of music is incredidibly unusual and complex, but just enough to enthrall you without confusing you. One of those few albums where nearly every song merits five stars, and the ones that don't are worthy of four.... buildings and mountains-5 golden sand-5 feelin the future-5 weatherbeaten-4 1/2 air guitar-4 1/2 the nerve-5 (my personal favorite) contortionists-5 fight song-5 made concrete-4 1/2 give arm to it's socket-5 stranger to the eyes of a child-man- 5 cast on, cast off-5 my new favorite band!

The whole thing is great, every song. Is there a new LP in the works? If you want one of those albums where the whole thing just grows and grows on you...this is one of those. Nice job.

I heard about 5 seconds of the chorus of "Buildings & Mountains" during NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams one night and it turned my head. I immediately looked up the title based on the lyrics I heard and downloaded it. It's a VERY well crafted tune with a kind of '80s British feel to it. Great acoustic guitar sound and a borderline reggae groove behind it really push it over the edge. I've probably played it 20 times in the last day and a half, and everyone I play it for loves it. Highly recommended!

they played this song halfway through tonight's NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams newscast tonight, Monday 1-4-10, never heard the news play music before, this song sounded pretty rad though (maybe Brian Williams digs them, go check out this band out, i'm gonna!)
