salsamiguel get your musical history straight. Son montuno is a 100% Cuban rythm that goes back further than you can count. As a matter of fact most of the popular latin rythms of today have their roots in cuba and this is a matter of historical fact. By the way I'm not cuban and this record is OK, nothing more than a poor attempt to play Cuban Timba by a Puerto Rican Band. Any of the good timba bands from Cuba will beat the pants off this record.
Check it out for yourself if u really want to know.

Saw them live @Latin Roots on New Year's in El Viejo San Juan and they were swinging1 The new school of Salsa is alive, support these kids as we don't want our music to disappear.
- Cuban timba?

First, a timba is an instrument. Not called timba everywhere. Second, I will never understand why, but in Florida, they called everything Cuban. Cuban bread= same bread we make in PR. Cuban coffee= Same coffee we make in PR, but Fidel doesn't control the milk in PR so we have enough milk for whever wants to use some milk.
- salsa pura para gozar!!

first off.... this is NOT timba. no no no. this is straight up salsa from La Isla del Encanto. NG2 is a fresh take on salsa for the younger generations... and the older generations like it too :-) but, they ain't got nothin' on Victor Manuelle. They learned from him, which is why they are so good, but... Victor is Victor... y eso nadie se lo quita.

Love the album! Smooth, but with a little bite to it...definitely not Timba (might be confused with NG La Banda from Havana), but some of the best Puerto Rican Son Montuno (Salsa) I've heard.
