I love DT, but... Why do we need a Greatest Hits album from them? To me, DT has always seemed to put a lot more work into their ALBUMS, and the singles have always seemed like an afterthought. It makes for an extremely awkward Greatest Hits album, where a lot of the best songs are left out and what's there doesn't flow at all. Dream Theater is known for awesome albums and 10+ minute long masterpieces, not radio hits.

This compilation is great. No only does it put most of DT's best work on here, they used a lot of alternate versions and single cuts. I hate the comp albums where it's just a mix playlist someone put together. If your a true DT fan, you will have all those songs already. So it doesnt leave out the fans. And it gives new listeners an idea of what dt is all about. I reccomend this to anyone

Good choice for most of these songs, but this is a horrible album... I will never get over such a messily butchered version of Scene Six: Home, and so many hits are left out. I mean, where the hell is Metropolis Pt. 1? What about Under A Glass Moon? I mean, Peruvian Skies gets on, but not these? See, In my opinion, DT already had 2 greatest hits albums out so far... They are called Images & Words and Metropolis Pt.2: Scenes From a Memory.

Who THE hell wrote this review. It's okay to have a little slant in a review, but all out bashing a group, whether any skill is possessed, or not, is completely and utterly inappropriate.

Great job on the remixes: Labrie's vocals come through clearer, as do all the other parts. It's like high def Dream Theater. Includes one new song, "To Live Forever", that sounds like it's from the Images and Words collection. Only negative is the cuts they made to some of the songs. The long, chaotic and orgasmically oriental guitar solo on "Home" was axed. But on the other hand, "Through Her Eyes" now features a nice sax solo. I thought the purchase was worth it--you really can hear a difference in the sound.

...not an album worth getting if you already like them though. This album got my friend into Dream Theater, mainly due to most of the songs being cut (Home is 12 minutes... on this its 5:38.) Instead of having progressive instrumental sections for 6 minutes, that is cut out for more of an album focused on vocals. The song "Lie" originally has a 1 minute solo ending the song yet in this version, it fades out after the vocals end, as does the song "Home" which has an experimental intro -> the part that is on this disc -> more experimental parts. If you know any of the edited songs on this compilation already, don't get this (That would be like buying a fully filled Cheeseburger and then trading it in for a Hamburger with just the meat and buns, very pointless.) ALSO: don't buy this on itunes... Go buy it in a store, when you buy it you get 2 discs... 1 with the "dark" songs which are the more metal tracks (1-11) and 1 with the "light" songs which are the softer tracks (12-22.) It just seems cooler, just like Pink Floyd - The Wall, with its transition in the 2 discs.
