Reviews

  • Didn’t get all of the songs.

What happened? Only got 21 out of 28 songs. Left off the biggest hits.
  • Seems to have all the essentials.

You know what my biggest complaint about this album is? That it's only available here on iTunes. I finally caved in and signed up just to buy this and a few other "exclusives" that I could not find legally anywhere else in the USA. That really irks me, because I'd much rather have a CD or other lossless version of this music. But DC5 seems to be completely unavailable here in CD or other digital forms. Now, having said that, it appears that this album has all the hits and some forgotten favorites. It's everything I wanted from the band and then some. So for that, four stars. You may see in other reviews people kvetching about the lack of stereo. Please note that these people are rubes and should not be listened to. DC5's music was almost all recorded in mono as far as I know, and played in mono on top 40 AM radio in the band's heyday. What you get here is almost certainly the original masters, with the trademark DC5 raucous, thick, booming sound that makes their music so darn special in the first place.

Terribly underrated 60s band. Any Way You Want It is 150 seconds of white hot rock intensity. The driving beat, the heavy reverb, and Mike Smith’s urgent vocals - what a ride!

One of the hit song’s Bits and Pieces only downloaded about 15 seconds of the classic hit.
  • Where's "Rumble"?

I actually didn't like DC5 when I was living thru the British Invasion, but my "little" brothers got their second album & played it, so I heard them & liked them enough to swipe the LP & play it. My favorite tune was the instrumental cover of "Rumble" which I searched for for years, to no avail. I've found it on a re-release of the LP, but was disappointed to find it wasn't in this collection. But, this collection has me singing along with most of the songs, most of which I didn't realize I knew! (Head my head in shame). I've spent over $300 on iTunes in the last month (this puts me over $400, lol). Great collection, iTunes!
  • Stereo versions do exist (not here however)

A friend of mine purchased this very compilation years ago "in stereo" before it was banned from the US. I thought this was the same, but it's not, and it's not advertised as mono either. The stereo versions are much cleaner and crisper than these. I gave four stars because of the selections, in comparison to other albums offered, not because I'm thrilled about quality.
  • RIP Rick --my bass inspiration.

Grew up with 'em. Learned to play bass following Rick's solid bass lines. One of my faves!
