This is one of the 80's greatest anthems!!! I do hope one day we can have the entire album One Night with a Stranger offered on itunes. It's a great piece of work!

"Salt In My Tears" was and remains one of my favorite songs of all time. Very glad to see this on itunes finally! Great, catchy guitar and awesome lyrics. How can you go wrong?

I swear John Waite did a cover of this song, which is why it may be familiar but not the same as I recall from the 80's
  • Thank You Mr. Briley

I lost my original vinyl years ago. Like one of the other reviewers, this was one of the first songs I looked for . . . and kept looking for on iTunes. I was so desperate, I nearly bought the Randy Meisner version just to have it. Instead, I went to Martin Briley's website and listened to it there until I could play it on the guitar and sing along. Now, Hallelujah, let the angels rejoice because I don't have to listen to myself whenever I need to hear this song. Who cares if his new version isn't exactly like the original. I also love the acoustic version. Kudos all around.
  • How to be a "purist"

I agree with those who've observed this version of "Salt in My Tears" isn't the original, though it is *VERY* close to sounding just like the original. Those who wish to remain unsullied by this "impure" version need only search at local garage sales for the original "pure" LP and then digitize the LP, or whatever. For those of you who can stand the song being only 96.245% pure, I heartily recommend you download it now; it's an excellent pop song, and an excellent recording.

For whatever reason, Martin has never been able to convince his original label to release his works in tact. That is a tragedy as "one nigh with a stranger" and "dangerous moments" were great bodies of work, and the greatest hits play sometimes doesn't work as well as the original. Sounds like Martin re-mastered the first track. The original version was less crisp than this, but it is what we were used to hearing. Martin is a great guy, visit his website, he emails me personally as he releases work or is involved with other musical projects. Very humble guy who appreciates his fans. How great is that!!
  • Not the real thing, nice try on the album cover too

This is so not the original. Not sure how this gets on iTunes. I have the original LP and played it last night, thought I could snag the digital version here. Oh well....

I purchased the "Album", and I gotta say I am very pleased. I would like to see the entire album "One Night with a Stranger" released to iTunes.

No, this is NOT the original recording, but it's still a good cut! Apparently, there are some copyright/licensing issues with the original recording and the original album, One Night With a Stranger, which is why it isn't available on iTunes (in fact, it's totally out of print.) So due to popular demand, Martin re-recorded the song and released this EP. I found out about it through his MySpace page. The new version isn't a note for note reproduction of the original, but it's pretty darned close and most people won't be able to tell the difference. The acoustic version certainly stands up on its own as well. Martin, thank you for taking the time to get your most popular song out there finally!!!
  • Great Work, Martin!

I appreciate the heads-up that it was not the original. However, it is so extremely well done! Especially as it is done by the original artist. He's taken a classic and made it appropriate for modern play. Love the song.
