- Maybe next album...

Love this band so much! Have seen them live three times, and the last time really got me HOT for their third album. The two lead singles (Gilt Complex and Darling) were exciting and a step forward from Repulsion Box. However, the rest of the album is filler at best. What a shame - I almost wept! There are so few original rock acts out there. Sons and Daughters are our last hope. Let's hope the band themselves listen to us 3-stars-or-less folk and return to making the kind of music that got us excited in the first place.
- Another Great Effort!

This is another solid effort by an extraordinary band! I, like one of the other reviewers below, am giving this five stars to counteract some of people that feel the need to give it a one or two star rating. Ordinarily I'd give this about a four, but there is always someone who knows nothing about music (see that cat who thinks Linkin Park is a gift to the rock world), or those who never want to see their indie band stray from their "roots". That's the best and worst thing about music though; everyone has an opinion. This is a great album, and worth the purchase.
- Great Pop!

Split Lips is a must buy - Gilt Complex is an excellent pop tune. Reminds me of a more poppy version of the "Go-Betweens" - Very impressive
- Great Live

I saw this band at coachella and they were great live. Adele is a great front woman who knows how to entertain a crowd.
- A bit disappointing

Unfortunately, this album does not match the excellence of the band's first two albums. It's a bit more pop sounding, and less raw. Almost every single song has some filler in the vein of singing "la la la" etc., which is annoying. Just look up the lyrics to the songs anywhere, and you'll see what I mean. In the past they've used such devices sparingly, and to good effect, such as in "La Lune" and "Rama Lama," but that's a different story. I still love this band, and I'm sure that these songs will regain that old S&D sound when performed live, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a disappointing release. Hopefully they'll come back stronger next time.
If you want to buy a few songs off of this album, the only ones I would sugguest are "Gilt Complex" because it's the only one even remotely like the tracks on the last album; "Chains" because even though it uses the aforementioned filler lyrics, there is just something about the parts where Scott sings that I like; "Darling" because even though it's very different from their old sound, it still has that kick lyrically and it uses the sweeter sounding vocals in an ironic way. Finally, on the single version of "Darling" the b-side "Killer" is pretty good. It's still not as good as the old stuff, but worth buying for a buck.
- You just gotta love the Scots!

I had never even heard of the Sons & Daughters until a few years ago when they opened a concert for The Decemberists. I was so excited about seeing The Decemberists that I sort of tuned them out until they played Rama Lama, then they had my full attention. I fell in love with them when they played that song, it was packed full of energy, and the vocals were dark and gritty. Of course nothing beats the excitement that you feel when you see a band perform live, but I think that this album comes pretty close to the real thing. The energy is tangible, and the lyrics are undeniably Indie. Three cheers and four stars for the Sons & Daughters!
- Good but...

For the idiots in charge of organizing music at itunes sons and daughters is the same as sons & daughters group the music together. Great Album though.
- Solid follow-up

Pretty solid follow up to "The Repulsion Box". I don't think it quite lives up to that album, but good nonetheless.
- Ok listen up

the ONLY, repeat ONLY reason im giving this album 5 stars is to balence out the idiots that have rating this record thus far. in all reality this record is at the very least 3 stars. ITS GOOD, and if you dont feel like getting the whole record, get gilt complex, rebel with the ghost, and a couple others i cant remember. but seriously, to the person that said go listen to real rock like three days grace and linkin park, i want you to know that you should go ahead and stop listening to music. for the greater good.
- yeah, yeah, yeah

Good, snappy, edgy alt-rock. The vocals and some of the songs remind me of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so if you're into Sons & Daughters then check them out. WOO WOO!!
