The California Bay Area Dubstep scene right now is EXPLODING. and this album has some of the people behind it. Buy this album, then go see zapper live, surissly.

this is a great compilation. it focuses more on the darker side of dubstep and not so much the raggae side. but songs like matty g's amen have a great raggae ryrhmn. a terrific example of dubstep. or a great start for a dubstep begginner.

Fan of all these artists. Keep an eye out for Roommate and Matty G. Theses guys are the isshhhh.... Its just good dubstep. Id say it leans more towards the dubby side of dubstep vs. the 2step side. If your looking for more 2step stuff, this album is not for you. If you are looking to chill out to some heavy bass and crack your speakers, then click "buy"
  • Truely suprising shift in the genre.

I was pleased with the change in this album compared to other current "mainstream" dub (if there is such a thing really). Basiclly what I mean is, this album seems to parrallel the patterns of dub, but avoids some of the cliche molds associated with the style. (ie. ventures the atmospheric aspects, subtle complexities you may not catch at first, etc.) I would presume this album is intended for the more, intellectual breed, leaving the call of youthfull banter behind. lol. But who am I to say, I write music myself and couldnt reach the level of any dub artists out there. (But between me and you, I think the genre is still in an evolutionary process of coming to know itself.) Peace

As an album, it has none of the depth coming out of London. I just started listening to dubstep a few days ago, and I feel comfortable judging this collection of music as sub-par. If you want to get to know dusteb buy something by Boxcutter, Burial, Skream, Caspa or Ruska.

I wont be eloquent and try to write some fancy review, but I will say, knowing nothing of the genre, and just knowing I like electronic music, this is solid. tracks 4 and 6 are amazing.
  • I like the way this is going...

Good. really good. I like the fact that the bay area is cultivating its own brand of dubstep without losing anything in the process. The tribal/reggae infusion works pretty well here without being gimmicky. you need this. now.
  • and so it begins

Wicked first release of Bay Area California dubstep. This has planted a seed for big things to come.
