I don't even want to call it fusion because it's SOOOOOOO FUNKY and cool. I haven't been this excited about jazz in a while. AND the sound (mix/engineering) is truly great. : >

I've been looking for new jazz music all morning and after reviewing a dozen or so artists I've concluded that most people are too easily satisfied with what they listen to. I've been a fan of the Yellow Jackets, Dream Theater and Jean Luc Ponty for many years but I'm bored with most of that, too much fancy playing, not enough music. Alex Argento has managed to mix all the fancy guitar and drum licks with some real music that really does something for the soul. I have to agree with the other reviews. This guy really has something.

From the more Jazzy technically driven songs such as "Moving Around E" and "Synchronal Steps" to the more metal and heavy songs such as "Brainstick" and "Metal Detector" to even the soft and slow song "Vibrations" this album packs an amazing musical punch that keeps you interested throughout the whole album. Not one song is worth skipping. To describe this sound would require a word not used much anymore in music "Fusion". A fusion between Pat Metheny and Dream Theater. Fusing Jazz and Rock (or Metal) is not something new, but Argento makes a completely new sound out of it. If you plan on buying this album then buy ALL of it, not just one song. This album is without a doubt the best thing I ever bought on iTunes and is easily one of my favorite releases of all time. I eagerly await a tour or even better...another album.

Alex Argento is a great composer/keyboardist/producer from Palermo, Sicily. This is some of the best "new" fusion I have heard. A strong contender to comtemporaries like Planet X, Dream Theater, Alan & Neal Morse, etc...I strongly recommend this album.
