  • No Sophomore Slump for Angie & Debbie!!!

I LOVED their 1993 debut CD in every way: great songs, excellent vocals and quality production. It was even Grammy-nominated. All that said, this - their sophomore, self-produced project on their own independent label - is by far the BETTER CD. It's lyrical content is definitely, as the title indicates, "BOLD". They cleverly but directly addressed several social issues through a Biblical perspective. Unfortunately, "BOLD" did not have the mainstream appeal of "Angie and Debbie" and did not get the same amount of airplay on commercial radio - R&B or gospel. Yet, the next year is earned Angie and Debbie their second Grammy nod. I just wish they had stayed together and kept producing more music.

With the limited amount of talent displayed on this album, one would think Angie and/Or Debbie wouldn't get on anyone's bad side. What's not natural is the mindset of the record company for putting this mess out to be purchased!

This is a very weak album. I enjoyed their first one, but not this one. And as for the whole gay bashing thing. Well, that's what it is. They have their belief and I have mine. I am a Christian too! And contrary to what another reviewer expressed...The Bible IS subject to interpretation. Why do you think we have so many different denominations or churches? We can't agree because of INTERPRETATION! Back to the album. It's just weak. Too bad.
  • It's entitled BOLD for a reason.

Great album. A few tracks are stronger than others. (Ryan Song, I Believe, Love Won't, Love will Lead the Way). It has a very r&b flavored slant. This album came out in 1997 and is still relevant. Staying power, in my opinion, is one of the key things that indicates an album. If you're upset about the content of the album then don't buy it. But I truly doubt one of the reviewers has even heard the album. Know that its a GOSPEL cd and its entitled "Bold". Everyone won't love it, but that's not rare! Angie and Debbie are strong vocalist and should be reviewed as such! This album along with their first are great additions to any Gospel Music collection. Take the time out and really listen to the content of the songs and if you're blessed or impressed click buy!

So awesome is this CD that it provokes people to intensely talk about The TRUTH'S expressed therein, and it also provokes those that want to keep living contrary to Gods word to take a look at themselves, and the worlds state if for only a "seed planting" minute. Angie & Debbies mandate is simply to sing the gospel ( good news) to the world; not to entertain and tickle flesh. Thank you B2W; I could not have said it any better, and Thank You Angie & Debbie for being the unwavering salt which brings the word, and not in fear.

Okay people; don’t listen to the comment posted by InXan about this album spreading intolerance!!!! Intolerance of what? Because these two artists, believe marriage is between one man and one woman, as it clearly states in one of there songs (not natural)? Come on! I call it freedom of religious speech! Gospel music, is singing about the life of Jesus Christ and Living day by day on God’s biblical principals. You either take the bible for what it is, or leave it alone. God never asked us to re-write the bible, just to soothe, or sugar coat, our dysfunctions. The bible was sent here by God to change us, not for us to change it. Angie and Debbie Winans, as well as all Christians, should freely and boldly proclaim what they believe, and that is God’s Holy Word ( bible). It is ALSO their constitutional right to operate in their religious freedom without APOLOGY, without being attacked or silenced. And when it comes to Gospel music, each artist has there style and method of delivery, BUT the message of Jesus Christ is the same. So take it or leave it. I am in the entertainment business, and I know alot people who enjoy this album fully. There is a time and place for all music, and I think some of the songs set the mood for relaxation in my opinion. You don’t have to like it, but respect it; at least it is something positive. Whatever happen to, “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” principal?

Where the rest of the family sends a message of love, these gals try to spread intolerance with limited vocal and musical ability. Stick with Bebe and CeCe and don't waste any of your money (or memory space) on this.
