Fantastic musicians. As others have said, or thought, most of the tracks sound like the same tune. Some help on the production side of the album is called for. Dynamics are almost non existent. Mastering is annoying and hard to listen to. I would love to here these guys under the master tutelage of someone who really knows how to produce an album. I hope these excellent musicians will call upon some of the better producers to assists them with their next project. That being said, these guys are the future of metal. I love their commitment to the craft.

Sounds like a good idea, but... If you listen to Steve Morse Band you'll hear where this sound originated before these guys were born! S

WOW..... these guys are off the hook and can you imagine with what small budget they had recorded this with? Finally American talent that has a grip on pioneering their own musical style---Thats why many critics of this band don't get them.....they don't fit into the mold ....they are a break out band with no equals or others to compare.....Frankly.......This is the most original music I have heard in 30+ years in and around this business!! Awesome guys !! Tommy Rocks

Anyone who think this band is trying to be like BTBAM is sorely mistaken. BTBAM didn't invent prog metal and they have a very long ways to go before they sound like they know what they're doing. back to Scale the Summit, kickass instrumental band man. I'm personally going to see them live this January with cynic, Between the Buried and Me (i'll pass this one up) and Devin Townsend.

I saw these guys in August at the Chicago Theater with BigElf and Dream Theater and that other guy. Outrageous and unbelievably talented for such young guys!! THIS career in ProgRock is going to be interesting indeed. Wildly talented! Highly recommended.

The second I heard this stuff I bought it. I heard about them from guitar world...and if you play guitar, you will not be disappointed. Despite not being the best recording quality, it is still monumental (like the title). Amazing musicians... like Necrophagist with acual melody. If you appreciate music, you will absolutly love StS. I love it... :-)

I have heard alot of progressive metal bands, however i was not moved by this album at all. I know right now i'm going to get terrible ratings on this review, but its the truth. Every song sort of sounded the same, it was like listening to ac/dc. Now, i am going to say that they are talented individuals, but it just seems like they will not go outside their tempo (about 150bpm), phrasing(alot of the riffs sound similar), or overall variation. Its almost like its lounge music. So this is why people progress, like Dysrhythmia, or Behold...the Arctopus, or even An Endless Sporadic. As great of musicians as they are, it would be good if they showed off their skills with that with the next one.

Wow I can't believe they released Monument un-signed. The harmonies are so amazing, I have no idea what the bass player is doing to make them sound so good (maybe lower 5th, 3rd even?) but It sounds so pure and heavy. Now the drummer is just amazing. Mixing everything up without being too busy! They only critique I have is that most of their songs are based off of 3/4 or 6/8 timing. I mean its better than all of them being 4/4, but still. And for the guy who said it sounds too indie, seriously don't trip dude, I think it sounds amazing even if this came from a signed band. It's probably just their sound, deal with it!
