This album is just too much fun, so full and flouncy, you just can't help but feel it all the way from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. So grooving! My only question is why the OtR music I buy from iTunes is buzzy, regardless of what system I'm playing it through. Anyone else have this issue? Keeps me from being able to really crank it! Other than that, it's delicious.
- Wonderful. Their best!

A little of everything here. This is IMHO their best album yet (also available in store or from their website on vinyl!). Just. Buy. It. And. Enjoy.
- I'd give it ten stars if I could

It's amazing OTR can keep making gems. I've worn this album out... nice to have a bit more upbeat music from them. OTR has been putting out great acoustic / piano albums and this, as the reviewer says in much more detail, has more complex instrumentation - sort of similar to Snow Angels - and it's got a much more cheerful and optimistic sound (and lyrics - eg. I'm on a Roll) than Ohio and Drunkard's Prayer. And thank you Linford for Don't Wait for Tom, been too long since we've heard you! If you're in doubt, give 'Trouble' and 'I'm on a Roll' a listen... Thank you OTR!
- Practically Perfect in Every Way

This album is my first taste of OVER THE RHINE, and it's made me a huge fan. Such a brilliant, ecclectic blend of jazz, country, folk, and more. It seems like there are two kinds of music lovers -- ones who are most drawn to great vocals and sophisticated melodies, and ones for whom brilliant lyrics are king. THE TRUMPET CHILD would please either type.
- PERFECT BRILLIANCE AS USUAL

I listen to a LOT of different music... and I keep coming back to these folks as one of the best around. I have "Drunkard's Prayer" and "Ohio" on CD (which is a double-disc album), and have listened to all of this album, and between all three of those albums there is not ONE single song that I skip past. I can't say any other band has accomplished that in my world. Just buy it. Whatever Over the Rhine album you are looking at, just buy it. I don't think they could write a band song to save their lives.
- always in the mood.

seriously. not only is the album incredibly well done, it's also the only album i can listen to any time, any place. i've long enjoyed the soothing vocals of karen, and this album shows off her talent as well as boasting some playful, eccentric lyrics and melodies. in typical OTR fashion, lots of variety too. a must have!
- Just when you thought it couldn't get any better

OTR has an unusually high standard they have set for themselves over the years. I love this new album. I can hear the influence of producer Brad Jones on here, too, and it's a good thing! A great combination. Buy it now!

Well written songs, eclectic in their compostitions, yet tied together in spirit. I have about 8 OTR CDs and I honestly didn't think they could turn out anything better. Pleasantly surprised that a group this good can keep finding fresh creativity after so many years.
- WOW!

Right when I thought they couldn't make an album better than Drunkard's Prayer they prove me wrong. It's straight up good music. After sampling a couple songs I had no choice but to click "BUY ALBUM". This album doesn't disappoint. I owe OTR a big THANK YOU!
