If you hate it when songs get stuck in your head; Don't buy this or any other IT album. They are masters of the pop/punk hook. They didn't branch out much from "ON" on this record, but why should they? Why paint a peacock?

It pains me to write a not so good review for them. An amazing group but there are some missing pieces to this album and I hate to give it 2 stars but if we are comparing their spotless back catalogue then I have no choice. It sounds to me like they've been apart for so long and though their chemistry is still there but they should have spent a few more months jamming or touring these songs before they recorded them. It sounds rushed. The hook is there but some songs just loop and some lyrics are too elementry even for them. It also has that creepy feel that this might (dare I say) be their last album like that last Destiny's Child album (yikes) except Will Schwartz is hardly a Beyonce.

Simplicity. Complexity. Soft Guys, Hard Girls. Real feelings. Light on technical prowess but heavy on soul. The opposite of heavy Metal. One of the guys used to be in a metal band. Commercial success eludes Imperial teen. But Oh well - I get to listen to pop perfection by a band from my home town who plays live shows in tiny venues for a hundred or so people who really get it. So even though I don't want to lose that, I encourage you to get it. now.

If you like punk-pop this is as good as it gets. The best Imperial teen record yet. All 12 songs are superb. A ray of sunshine in 2007.

I have seen four different gigs of Imperial Teen in San Francisco. They are good performers as well. I have listened to their "On" and "What is Not to Love" over and over. Their songs are very catchy and cool (in other words, not charged with full of obvious banal meanings). Certain melodic phrases and odd (sometimes even goofy) lyrics stick to one's brain, like a spell. Imperial Teen can be addictive. This album contains a lot of such songs. I recommend the entire album, but if you have a limited resource, I recommend "Room With a View," "It's Now," "Fallen Idol," "Everyone Wants to Know," and/or "What You Do."
