After many moons of dry music, I stumbled upon the great Tune Wizard, his brilliance Eddie Hazel. I start every morning with California Dreamin with my alarms. He is magic.

If u know about early funkadelic and especially maggot brain, then you should definitely do yourself a favor and check out this solid solo album from eddie himself, the man responsible for the great lead guitar on the albums, the man who influenced the likes of John Fruistaine and Buckethead, and most importantly, the man who is arguably THEE undisputed king of psychedelic funk rock! The highlights of the album in my opinion: I Want You, California Dreamin and What about it. I would name a couple of more tracks than that, but itunes does not have the re-issue of Games, Dames and Guitar thangs where it features 4 bonus cuts like Smedley Smorganoff, Lampoc Boogie, From the bottom of my soul and Unkut Funk. Why itunes does not have the re-issue available for purchase is beyond me, but itunes need to go ahead and put it on here, plus the mixing/sound quality is better from this regular issue of the album. Well, thats about it for the review. If u like funkadelic, then you'll mostly likely enjoy this album. Gone and get it!

Each song took me to a different place in my mind. "I Want You (she's so heavy) is my favorite. The mix is not the best. Overall, I really like the album.

This is album is like the prequel to the "Mothership Connection". If you like the Brides of Funkinstien, Parlet, and Bootsy Collins. Then your going to love this album! Eddie Hazel "on lead guitar" is the Man!

everyone has their own different opinion about this album, and they should. so why bother listening to any of them, make your own decision. buy the album because you want to, not because i say its good. it is good, but thats just my opinion.
  • A must for any Hendrix or Ernie Isley fan!

I own over 1000 CD's, and I am a huge Funkadelic and Parliament fan; not to mention being a huge fan of most of the top 100 guitarist of all-time...this CD is OK, mostly repetitive chords and/or over sampled rifts. I do not know much about Eddie Hazel, but I would not have bought this CD if I had heard it first. Not bad, but definetly not great...Its OK.
  • Unsung!

Eddie Hazel is a unsung guitar hero. His riff are the blood to the heart of so many of the funk laden track of Paliment/Funkadelic. Take away George Clinton antics & Bootsy's bass and the songs still move you with Eddie's riveting riffs. Long over due iTunes, but thanks.
