  • A Perfect Compilation

    By who cares?????????????????????
It's titled by the best song on their debut, although none of those songs appear here. Fitting though, because, although excellent, the style on their debut does not fit here. Neither would the awesome Lovegrove, DCD's only "hit" that came two years later. The two new songs fit perfectly, however, and this is one of the best albums anyone could own.

Now if any of you go to the 4AD website you would know that all the DCD titled are being remastered and released on June 2. Perhaps iTunes will have the remasters when they are available. Patience - this wonderful music will sound better than ever. DCD is an amazing band.

Ghostly, exotic & serene. With the touch of Middle Eastern & Mediterranean influence & Gerrad's soothing vocals & yanquin playing, the album is by far a Must Have. This was my 1st DCD album, and it turned me on to other wonderful works by them, including her solos. Over 15 years later, I still listen to this album continuously!!
  • Transcendent? Can I use that word?

This is definitely not my usual genre of music - but I have a very eclectic taste and am always willing to push the genre boundaries if it's something I like - and this - this is amazing. I'm going to take the risk of sounding pretentious and call this music transcendent. It's beautiful and stands outside time. I first became aware of Dead Can Dance from the song The Host of Seraphim which was in the the movie "The Mist" based off a novella by Stephen King, but not until several months after seeing the movie did I try to look up some more of their stuff. A lot of people on here are complaining about the songs left out of this compilation but this is my first Dead Can Dance album and I'm going to say that on its own merits its an amazing album. Favorite songs are Ullyses, The Host of Seraphim, and Saltarello.

Well, I owned all DCD material even some hard to find stuff. Passage in Time is a great compilation of earlier work with a couple of new pieces, like Spirit. I love this album. However, the band had pulled apart by the time Spirit Chaser was released, with Lisa Gerrard wanting to move onto solo projects. Even so, this is great stuff, and a mix of Gerrard's other worldy and Perry's lyrical poetry. My favorites are Severence, Spirit and Fortune Presents Gifts Not According to the Book. This is not to exclude Gerrard's stuff. That plays well for me - but I simply love Perry's lyrics.

This album is absolutely positively kickin'. These are all some totally fresh jams, but uh, where are all the other DCD albums! Seriously, I only have this and Spiritchaser, I need more!
