  • The "Slim" moniker is not an accident

There have been many blues legends with the nickname "Slim", so I'll admit I was a bit skeptical when I first heard of Watermelon Slim. But just one spin through this set absolutely converted me. There isn't anything groundbreaking here, but this set is delivered with such genuine authtenticty that it is irresitible. There's something about Slim's delivery that just rings so true - he just sounds like a blues man. Witness the slow blues of "Newspaper Reporter" when he informs the listener that he plays Oklahoma style blues and if you don't like they way they play it "why don't you get your coat, and drive on home!" No curse words used, and none are needed. The line is delivered with such utter disdain, you know he really means it. If you consider yourself a blues fan, do yourself a favor and download this.
