  • Their Best Work To Date

If you only pick up one Derek Trucks Band record, make it this one. This is, as far as I'm concerned, the most essential of their CDs. The decade plus they made creating their sound materialized in this CD. Not only is the production and mixing top notch, but the performances are incredible and most definetly serve the songs. This is probably the most important record of the first decade of the 21st century.

This Sky is the most beautiful song I have heard in a long time. It is true art. It has the ability to transform me to a beautiful place. It evokes uphoria and nostalgia at once. I feel like I am a part of something very special when I listen, and I yearn for times when music was creative and artistic. It is refreshing to hear the band play in blissful sychronicity. Everything about this song is perfection. Thank you Derek Trucks for your passion and creativity, and for sharing your gift....fly fly away..do you remember???

What is so cool about Derek Trucks and his music is you get so much more than Duane ever was in his short life but the connection is still there. And not just in some imitation sort of way but you get the idea that the soul of Allman is within this kid and is the foundation of his music. You truly get a sense of what Duane would sound like if he were around today!

Saw DTB open for Santana in Montreal last fall, not only did his band do AMAZINGLY, but when Derek did a few songs with Santana's band, he blew Carlos off the stage. Amazing. And to whoever said Volunteered Slavery was bad, u obviously havent heard the live version. Derek SHREDS itthe whole way. This version isnt amazing, but the live one will blow your mind.

I love this album, especially "All I Do," "This Sky," and "Sailing On." Man, Trucks burns it up! I would have given this album 5-stars if it had not been for the inclusion of the song "Volunteered Slavery" - its awful (sorry guys!).

Plain and simple...... This is the best CD I've heard in years... From start to finish it is tight... I can't tell enough people about these guys. Before July I had never even heard of them. I IMMEDIATELY got online and bought the CD/concert tickets to the closest show available. If you need to get on somebody's good side..... gift them this CD!
