One of the my favorite albums ever made, Andy Hull is a genius. This is the kind of music you dont want to listen to with your buddies for the fear that one of them may speak during a song.
  • Extremly powerful album.

Andy Hull conveys love, loss, hate, indifference, and the worst back stabbing a person could ever meet. He does it all with an extremly powerful, yet fragile soft voice. The album is about a 17th century sailors journal entries. The sailor catches his brother and wife the worst way he could. He learns to confide in his captain for advice and comfort because he has no one else. Everyone including his wife daughter son and brother has left him behind. In time learning to love his captain more than his own wife, his captain dies and leaves him with the ship. The sailors only home. From the start to finish of this album is non stop raw emotion and talent.

Andy Hull is fantastic and is so lyrically talented, and has a voice to match! PS: Track 8 is actually called "Right Ahead, Young Sailor!" instead of "Right Ahead, You Sailor!"
  • Great album and songs

I heard this album one day and I was like "Who is That?" Little did I know it was a side project from the singer of mancherster orchistra (spelling). Bottom line this is one of the best albums I have ever heard in my life. My personal favorite is "I'm Not Ready To Forgive You". Highly recomend this.

Right Away, Great Captain is an amazing record with an acoustic that varies from soft and gentle to building up emotion. Vocals do the exact same, sometimes showing strong desperate emotion. This album was also featured in a recent issue in Paste Magazine. I would highly recommend the album to anyone who appreciates subtle tunes that bubble below the surface. Enjoy the diary of a 1600's sailor put to music.

Something Deep and meaningful Andy Proves himself to be an amazing story teller/ song writter and well just an all around outstanding artist. I love this album. and i will say that you cant have one with out the other so you need to buy Manchester Orchestra's albums amazing probably is the best word but it is the first that comes to mind...

A good album that is very calming to listen to. If you get a chance read Andy Hull's explanation of the record and the two records to come. The songs all tell a story and go in chronological order. It's about a sailor, of course.
