I can't believe the rave reviews for this disc. It's not very good, in my opinion. It's got a few ok songs like I Understand and Set In Motion but mostly it's just boring and aimless. Starting with Twice Removed and ending with Between The Bridges they had an awesome run but when you get in your 30's everything's downhill in rock and roll. Ha ha. So every disc since BTB has been hit and miss. Patrick usually has a gem on every disc but Chris has really taken a turn for the worse. And I love Chris Murphy! Oh well. At least Parallel Play got back to a normal album's length so I don't have to skip nearly as many songs. Start with Twice Removed and work your way forward to BTB. From there I'd go shopping for single tracks at a time.

This album is the best thing out this year. Was wishing for more Patrick songs, but love the play sequence and one of the best pop rock albums you will ever buy. Phoenix, AZ loves ya!

I had never heard of this band before I got this, but they are definately a good band. This album totally reminds me of something the Beatles could have written. Their voices sound like the Beatles. Having said that, it still is very modern and each song holds its own. They dont all sound the same, so you dont get sick of the cd by the time you get to the 30th song. Listen to the Radio is a great song and reminds me of something John Lennon wrote. Definately 2 thumbs up! If you have been thinking of getting this cd, I dont recommend getting it on iTunes, because there are 30 songs, so get it at a music store and upload it onto iTunes. You can if you want to, but I thought I would let you know. ~Sloan Rox~

I’ve been a fan of Sloan for as long as I can remember, and this album delivers what any fan could ever want, while giving up a lot of love to people who have never heard them. I already, cannot count the amount of people I’ve hung out with, and played the album for to get the response "Who is this.. not bad, I like em". If your a fan, you've already got the CD and love it, if your new, GET THIS CD and you'll soon be dieing to get all the other albums!

Give it 3 or 4 listens and you might find that you need to ditch a few songs and still have 27 gems left. Best song is Fading Into Obscurity. One of the finest crafted pop songs I've ever heard. I have no clue why these guys haven't hit big in the US. I think they just might very soon. Definitely Beatles-esque.

Another fantastic record from Sloan. This one can be compared to Elvis Costello & The Attractions' Get Happy, also a sprawling, AM-radio influenced explosion of short, tight, engaging melody and songcraft. It's hard to say which album is more incredible, too. And while comparisons to the White Album are a bit faulty (NHTEOI is only similar in number of songs -- not even album length), a fair comparison could be made to another of Sloan's records, Between The Bridges, which, like White Album, seemed to illustrate four increasingly disonant and quarrelsome personalities engaging in finger-pointing while tape rolled.
