This recording is a standout for many reasons, but all things being equal, it is the flawless tempo that elevates this recording above the rest. Do not be fooled by faster, flashier versions that sound good on the first listen but tire your ear before the halfway point. The soloists are impeccable and the choir rings beautifully throughout.
  • The best!

This is the best version ever recorded of the Magnificat (a very close second is the Montiverdi Choir on Philips Digital...both are worth owning). In addition, the accompanying "Mighty Fortress is Our God" Cantata is the finest version I have ever heard. Track # 19 (Wie Selig Sind Doch Die) is in my Top 5 "Most beautiful Vocal Tracks Ever Recorded" list. This recording is a must own for people who like Bach's vocal works. I am so grateful this made it to iTunes.

I stumbled across this piece in the MIDI Classical Archive website. The MIDI version of this piece was enough to grab me. I bought this CD on a whim. I was totally captivated and it was stole (among many others). I am so glad to find this music. I am VERY picky about the quality (or lack there of) in many iTunes seections. This is NOT one of the ones. The quality is PERFECT!!! Do your ears a favor, kick back and enjoy.
