Their most recent album Deaths and Entrances is even better. Their melodic, moody music just touches your soul. DOn't miss either of these albums!

Their heavy accent took me a few songs to get into, but once I did, I absolutely loved them, and I was surprised that iTunes doesn't have their other album called Deaths and Entrances. I was able to find that album elsewhere, and I reccomend that as well. This is an album well worth the money, and my personal favorite songs are Pretty In A Panic, Ghost In The Gutter, and When We Were Wolves. I wish them the best of luck, although with this talent, they won't need it.

I first found out about this group, because I loved folksy/indie bands like Beirut, the Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, etc, and this album was on one of those "people who bought this also bought..." list things. I got the album, and gave it a listen. I liked a couple tracks at first listen, but initially I was very unimpressed. However, I did the smart thing and gave this band another listen. On one of those grey, foggy mornings with a warm mug of tea in hand, I put this album back on, and was immediatly impressed. I guess for me the setting where you listen to the music is everything. This is definately NOT a big, noisy, city album. It is a peaceful, chilly, highland morning/afternoon album. Now I can't get enough of these masterful Scottish musicians. They are AMAZING! There are plenty of fragile, chilling moments on this album with wonderfully done layers of sound (The Hope Edition, especially), then there are moments when the acoustics can get loud and joyful (Learning Lego, Reputation of Ross Francis, Sister Sneaker Sister Soul.). However, don't buy this album for listening in the city or on a buisy day. It is a very special album for those nostalgic moments of your life. Get it and enjoy with a mug of something warm in hand... You won't regret. And if you don't like it on first listen, definately give it a second chance. :-) P.S. As of writing (Jan, 08) My Latest Novel is in the process of recording a new album. I can't wait!

This Scottish five piece's ability to layer such beautiful instruments goes unrivaled. For their first album, My Latest Novel, capture the natural and complaisant sounds of other fine artists such as Belle & Sebastian and the Delgados. My Latest Novel's Wolves is a classic and a graceful introduction to a revitalized genre. Such talent, foreign-tongued friends!

My Latest Novel's got a certain musical witticism that sets them apart as one of THE best Scottish bands. HOPE EDITION is a great track, with melodic and ethereal layers

A great debut. Never thought I would be listening to scottish folk, but this is really beautiful, original, uplifting stuff. Sister Sneaker Sister Soul has to be one of the best songs of 2006, and there is plenty more to enjoy on this album. The originality of this band alone allows them to soar over others who remain to be superficial and repititive.
