We had Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show on 8 track tapes when I was little, and my parents would dance to 'Sexy Eyes' and 'Years From Now' in the living room. I have these albums on cassette, CDs, and now on my IPhone. I've seen them live, they are amazing, truly great musicians. I'll miss Shel Silverstein forever! He made their lyrics awesome and the guys all could sing and play. Definitely an album worth owning!

It cracks me up to see the little pee-ons who have such shallow minds that they can't recognize the raw talent of Dr. Hook. These guys need no mixing, dubbing or the other wide range of BS necessary to stand "today's music" they are REAL! Raw talent on stage or recorded. I was raised on this great fun music along with; Creedence, Three Dog Night, Fleetwood Mac, Blue Oyster Cult to name a few. My Mom raised us with the music of the day. Our music from the late 60s thru the 80s is phenomenal. It'll never die as it's multiple-generational. It is this music which is influencing a great new influx of true raw talent; OCMS, WOTE to name just a couple who clearly cut their teeth on these great timeless groups!! Give Silvia's Mother another listen...

my guess is "sexy lil princess" has four kids by now, living on tax-payer money, the old man in prison for beatin' her with her iPod (which she had to sell for some Meth); ya gotta remember that wasn't even BORN when this came out . . . . .
  • Fantastic music from, admit it, the cultural low of the 20th century.

This music is FANTASTIC! This, too, was my mom's favorite. I was too young to understand the words when it was new, but now that I'm older, its even better. Everything from the screwball comedic stuff in the early years to the sappy love songs of the later years is masterfully executed.
  • a really good album

And really good music. Sylvia's Mother and Queen of the Silver Dollar are as beautiful songs as they are touching stories. Cover of the Rolling Stone, Roland the Roadie and Acapulco Goldie will have you laughing your butt off. This was one of my Mom's favorite bands and I never understood the words as a child but even then I knew the music was good.
