To bad patty is making you buy the whole album for one song. There's alot of great music i've fell in love with over my 44 years and dont we all have those records we only like a couple songs off of......

This album was my favorite for the longest time when I was younger and it still is one of my favorite albums of all time.
  • A decade later, still astounding.

Country music at its finest. The title is perfect, the lyrics are impeccable with few exceptions, the instrumentation is both deep and sparkling, and Loveless' voice is fantastically versatile and expressive. Just ten bucks, worth every penny.

I've been a fan of Patty Loveless' music for almost twenty years, and I can you that her singing is some of the best country muisc on Mountain Soul. You can sense that she sings from her soul as you listen to her wonderful phrasing of the lyrics and heartfelt inflection of voice. The musicians, instrumental and vocal, that back her up are also first class. I hope she produces a third album of Mountain Soul that matches the music on this album and much of Mountain Soul II.

What can you say, this album is amazing. What a wonderful sound this young lady brings forth. I hope she always stays with her roots. There are many of us out here that will buy her albums as long as she stays true.

This is by far one of my favorite albums. All songs are great and Patty outdoes herself with her vocal not to mention absolutely great fiddle and banjo music especially. Only hope that this isnt her last album that shows this side of her singing.
  • A beautiful album.

For anyone that's ever lived in or near the coal patches of the western U.S., this album sounds like home. I strongly recommend any true country-music lover to check out this album. It's near perfect.

By far Patty Loveless' best work, and that's saying a lot. No one can sing mountain and bluegrass music with the same soul as Patty. Listen to "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" and you'll understand. Makes Darrell Scott's original sound like a bubble gum song. Great stuff and highly recommended.

This is the best she has done and most artistically interesting as well. I like Pretty Little Miss and Sounds of Loneliness as well as Out of Control Raging Fire. The picking is great and so are the vocals.
