  • Shangri-la Indeed.

Of all Teena Marie's albums, this one is my favorite. The 80's, as a whole in sound, is my favorite decade of music. This album is also my favorite album to come out of the 80's, and coincidentally, it came out my birth year of '86. It captures everything in the sound of the era... from soul, to pop, to rock/metal, no part of the diverse Emerald City is left unchecked. It even has jazz and salsa. It's as if this album was tailored for those who love all music and not just a single genre.

I have all of Lady T's CDs. This is my favorite of all of her music. The music on this CD is timeless. It is still great 25 years later! She will remain to be one of the greatest talents to ever blessed the earth. RIP Teena, see you in heaven and thank you!

I remember whenthis album first came out, I bought it purely because of Ms. T. Then I hear "Shangri-La" and went wild. It was thhe first time my actual name had been used in a song. I felt she sang the song especially for me. All of her music is a constant in my life.

20 years ago I bought this album and I couldn't believe that there were no hits from it. It only contains 8 tracks, but each one stands on it own as a classic. My wife, who is a Teena Marie fan, had never heard of it. It is now her favorite Teena Marie album. Purchase this and you will not be let down.

Ms. T certainly worked her stuff on this HIGHLY UNAPPRECIATED album. The fine mix of rock, funk, R&B, and Latin rhythms by this album had just been Tee's signature. It's a shame this album isn't as well known as it should be. Long live--and sing--Lady Ivory.
