Cut the Crap

All the songs are good just in dictator the people talking in the back and the like piano saxophone is the problem but I do like this album

30 years ago, my life was changed by the music, the message and the attitude of the Clash. However, this album does not represent in any form the band in their original formation. Only one song is worth it: This is England, with its cutting lyrics and beautiful melody although the backing vocals could be less emphasized. Too little and too sad to mark the end of one of the greatest band in history.

It is a crappy album compared to the other clash albums like London Calling, but if it was made by some other punk band that wasn't that good, then it would be seen as a good album

This album isnt the train wreck the critics made it out to be. The songs are good high energy rockers I saw these songs performed live by the revamped Clash and they held their own and Joe Strummer delivered them with his usual passion . My complaint about this album is the horrible production everthing sounds distorted and they also left off a few good songs , Sex Mad War, Ammunition and In the Pouring Rain. I wish joe had produced it instead of bernie rhodes. My hope is one day it will be re-engineered and rereleased as a package with some live cuts as well from their concerts from that period.

That's exactly what it is. Crap. I am a huge fan of the clash and I love all their records. Except this one. It's just a hollow shell of what the clash used to be. Sorry joe.

I'm a huge Clash fan, but even I was hesitant to listen to this album because I didn't even consider it to be "The Clash" and I didn't want it to tarnish my overall view of them/Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon. However, at one point I just couldn't resist, so I cautiously bought it. While it's definitely the least amazing album under the Clash name, it still has merit. Songs like "Movers and Shakers" even sound like they could fit in on an earlier album, just missing a bit of Mick Jones' flare and sharper, more natural drumming like Topper's. At root, stripped down, these are very good songs. The clear over-production (not with the quality of the sound but more in the sense of adding too many parts to each song) is really the main thing that makes it a "lesser" version of The Clash. The single This Is England is actually one of the much weaker, less original songs on the CD -- it just seems so boring and cliche, and snotty without the passion, so if that's all you've heard and you're judging it negatively based on that, you might still like the rest. 5 stars, because, as the title says, it's still under the influence of Joe Strummer, and even at his worst he's a world above the rest musically.

Whenever an album is uniformly despised, there's always some kind of movement claiming that it's merely underrated. Sometimes, this movement is right, and years after the album's release, might be validated by the rest of the public coming around to the idea that they made a mistake in judgment by condemning the album. This is not one of those times. When Joe Strummer wrote "We Are the Clash", he must have been trying to prove it to himself, because The Clash's heart had already been cut out when he fired Mick Jones.

Cut The Crap has some good songs on it but they are buried under horrible mixing and production. CTC is an indictment on Bernie Rhodes, not this version of The Clash. I saw this lineup play live and they were quite good. I would love to see someone remix the raw tracks...hell, maybe there's even real Pete Howard drum takes laying around somewhere...and bring out the full potential of this album. It really could have been a renaissance. Hey Mick, maybe you and Tony could take this on as a last tribute to your friend Joe.

everyone says this is not the real clash..thats what makes this album great..the brilliance of the clash was their ability to experiment with different styles of music always keeping it fresh and never being chained to any identity..the drum machine doesnt do the quality of the songs justice..but take away the expectations and comparisons with prior albums, and this album would have been a bona fide classic.

doesnt anyone ever listen to the lyrics? yeah this aint london calling but it sure is better than all this new rap crap.... im a teen and that stuff sickens me! "we are the clash" and "three card trick" and "this is england" are my faves of the clash..... and i am obsessed with the clash... i have every freakin" album of there's and trust me..... THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED ALBUM IN THE WORLD! long live joe strummer!
