I would buy more opera downloads if they came with the English translation booklet like this one

This is a fantastic recording. Raimondi's characterization is masculine and vocally secure. All three of the female principals are in great form. This is Kiri's second complete recording of Donna Elvira, and I find her voice a bit larger in this recording than her first with Sir Colin Davis, and beautiful as always. Edda Moser is a powerful Donna Anna, full of pathos and drama. Teresa Berganza's Zerlina is charming, her voice is just a marvel. It makes me want to hear more mezzos in the role. Kenneth Riegel's Don Ottavio, however, sounds a bit old, but it's still an acceptable account of the role. The other principals make worthy contributions, especially Jose van Dam's cynical Leporello. This recording deserves to be ranked among the best recorded Giovanni's.
  • I'll have to agree with Raimondi and others

This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest interpretations of Don Giovanni ever. I'm surprised the Gramophone, one of the greatest magazines in the world, doesn't agree. Ruggero Raimondi has alway been a great opera singer, and Lorin Maazel's interpretation is magnificent. Thank you, Itunes for putting this on the market. You wont be disappointed.

This is one of the best recordings of Don Giovanni. It is the soundtrack of the Joseph Losey film set in the famous Paladian Villa La Rotunda and the towns of Venice and Vicenza. The artists are increadible all. One of the best selections with Raimondi, Berganza, and Te Kanawa. I recommend it highly.
